In response to the Tropical Cyclone Freddy disaster, members of staff for Farm Radio Trust, and it’s strategic partner Farm Radio International, decided to reach out to the disaster survivors.
In liaison with the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA), the team has donated relief items to 100 survivors in Nkomera Village, in Sub-Traditional Authority Tamani’s area in Phalombe district.
The relief items included 100 blankets, 100 packs of 15kgs flour, and 100 treated mosquito nets.
The items have been officially handed over today, Monday, 22nd May 2023 to the survivors by the FRT’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. George Vilili, who was accompanied by the Programme Manager for the Blantyre Agricultural Development Division (BLADD) Dr. Patricia Mayuni and the FRT’s Director of Programs, Flora Khomani, including the officials from the Phalombe District Council.
