Farm Radio Trust believes in building the capacity of its radio station partners, specifically community broadcasters. We are in partnership with over 9 community broadcasters in Malawi. As part of capacity building, we conduct orientation sessions with broadcasters, specifically on the Farm Radio Programming Model. Two more community broadcasters have partnered with us under a project known as ‘Integrating Weather and Climate Adaptation in Radio Programming (IWCARP), with financial support from the World Food Programme.
These broadcasters are Mzati Community Radio based in Mulanje district and Gaka Community Radio based in Nsanje district. Under this project, we are also working with Zodiak Broadcasting Station as a national broadcaster. Today these broadcasters are interacting with farmers from Tadala Club of Stola Area Stakeholder Panel in Sumani Village, Group Village Headman Mliwo, in Traditional Authority Stola’s Area in Liwonde, Machinga district where the orientation session is taking place. We are implementing the IWCARP project in Balaka, Mangochi, Zomba, Blantyre, Phalombe, and Chikwawa.
