Development Practitioner: Catherine Mloza Banda

Catherine Mloza Banda is a Development Practitioner specializing in agricultural sciences and rural development. She joined Farm Radio Malawi in November 2012 as the Agricultural Value Chain Officer. 

Catherine holds a Master of Science degree in Rural Development and Extension obtained from Lilongwe University of Agricultural and Natural Resources (LUANAR), formerly Bunda College of Agriculture. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Crop Science) from LUANAR. She has 4 years experience in agricultural extension, research and knowledge management, and rural sociology.

At Farm Radio Trust, Catherine is responsible for contributing to the design and development of technical content for use in radio programs. She is also responsible for mobilizing and engaging with agricultural sector players and knowledge partners within the agricultural value chain to ensure technical accuracy and relevance of programs to smallholder farmers.

Before joining Farm Radio Trust, Catherine worked with Farmers Union of Malawi as a Development Communications and Documentations Specialist. Catherine has a keen interest in the study of rural sociology and scientific writing.
